Is a Soft Economic Landing Possible?

Policy makers at the Federal Reserve are attempting to rein in inflation from its highest levels in 40 years.  They are trying to do this without tipping the economy into a recession, pulling off a so-called soft landing.  Their success or failure will determine the path of interest rates and the well-being of the broader economy.  Policy makers and financial markets face the additional challenge of limited real time information about the state of the economy.  This presentation will provide an update and discuss tools to better understand the current state of the economy and to help interpret the path of monetary policy.

How to Fix the Financial Beliefs Which Undermine Financial Plans

This program presents the importance of understanding a client's financial beliefs, since those beliefs drive financial behaviors.  The presentation provides information regarding the different major types of belief scripts clients typically hold and how to assess these beliefs.  A discussion on the published research and clinical trial results also helps summarize best-practice.  Lastly, there will be a discussion on the actions which planners can use to help clients achieve their financial goals through financial psychology applied techniques.

Panel Discussion: Get Paid What You're Worth!

This session reviews the state of the entry-level planning positions, including job responsibilities, compensation and career paths.  The presentation examines differences in compensation between types of firms, business models, firm sizes and geography, as well as highlights the potential pros and pitfalls of the various career paths, and helps participants develop the skills and confidence to negotiate their compensation and career path.
