Meeting/Event Information

General Membership meetings are typically held the third Friday of every other month.  Meetings will be held at different locations (please check the meeting page information) and typically begin between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM and end by 3:00. Visitors are welcome, however, advance registration is required.

Most meetings provide 4-5 hours of continuing education.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

A Tale of Two Cities 

We will discuss the economy, the business cycle, inflation expectations, and valuations across multiple asset classes.  We will examine how monetary and fiscal policy affects the economy and what is currently priced into financial markets.  The audience will learn more about the economy's resilience as well as the problems on the horizon.  After examining the data, we will shift to fixed income and discuss why active management plays an important role in asset allocation.

Long-Term Care: Planning for Care in Today's Environment
Receive education on what long-term care planning is and why it is an important topic of discussion for our clients. We will be going over: what is long-term care planning, how big is the issue, and what options do we have on the current market to ensure the risk, and when is the right time to explore coverage.

    A Tale of Two Cities - Scott Lucks, CIMA®, Regional Director, Central Region, Weitz Investment Management

        

    Scott Lucks joined Weitz Investment Management in 2023 as a Regional Director. Prior to joining the firm, Scott was a Regional Consultant at Alliance Bernstein. He has also served as a Sr. Internal Wholesaler — Retirement Solutions Division at Pacific Life Insurance Company and was a Regional Director at Weitz from 2020 through 2021.

    Long-Term Care: Planning for Care in Today's Environment - Austin HultquistCLTC, Senior Insurance Strategist, Collaborative Planning Group

    Austin Hultquist, CLTC, is a Sr. Insurance Strategist at Collaborative Insurance Solutions. Austin joined the team as an intern in 2016. Growing up in a small town in Northwest Iowa, working in the family business, Austin learned to value hard work and the importance of good client-customer experience. Being raised in a small ag community, helping others was part of his upbringing and something he strives to do daily. Following his active college career, Austin moved to Omaha and joined Collaborative Insurance Solutions fulltime, where he fulfills his passion of helping others.

    Austin serves on the leadership team of NAIFA Omaha’s Young Advisor Team and is a member of Sing Omaha Choirs. He was asked to be a panelist at the upcoming 2024 Intercompany Long Term Care Insurance (ILTCI) with other thought leaders in the asset based (Hybrid) long-term care space. He holds the following designations: CLTC, RICP.  Austin stays active outside of the office exploring the outdoors, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and watching the Cyclones win (once and awhile).

    Collaborative Insurance Solutions works alongside other financial advisors serving as the out-sourced insurance solution for wealth management firms, law firms, and other professionals.  CIS specializes in life, long-term care, disability insurance and annuity solutions. CIS strives to always serve clients first, guiding them from initial assessment all the way through the application and underwriting process.

    Medicare Basics - Laura Weiler, Independent Insurance Agent offering Medicare Plans, Weiler Insurance Solutions, LLC

    Laura Weiler worked for a Fortune 500 company out of college and also worked for a start-up internet company before being introduced to the Medicare industry. She is beginning her 7th year of owning her own Medicare agency and absolutely loves what she does! Laura enjoys helping people with the transition to Medicare, as many people find it very confusing. Laura is married with two daughters and look forward to both girls being off the payroll this summer after the youngest graduates!

    CFP Ethics - Thomas Pargett, Vice President, Advisor Development, Carson Wealth

    Thomas Pargett is VP, Advisor Development, Carson Wealth.  He provides leadership and coaching of the Carson Wealth Advisors and Client Support Team. Thomas also helps advance the support and guidance provided to Carson Partner offices in developing their advisors and teams.

    Thomas has worked in the financial services profession since 2013. During this time, he has served in numerous roles relating to advising clients and coaching and mentoring advisors across the country. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Morningside University and a Master of Business Administration from Creighton University. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, as well as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST®. Thomas is very active in the financial services and business community, serving as a CFP® Mentor for the CFP® Board of Standards, 2023 President of the Board of Directors for the FPA of Nebraska, and an elected board member of the Morningside University School of Business Advisory Board. He is also a registered CFP® Ethics instructor teaching Ethics continuing education across the country to other CFP® certificate recipients.

    Thomas and his wife Kelly have three children: daughter, Reese, and two sons, Alex and Sam. The entire family enjoys all things outdoors, traveling, their family fire pit, baking cookies on their Traeger, and family movie nights. They are heavily involved in youth sports and their church. Thomas, literally, has no time for any additional activities.

    CE CREDITS

    The morning session will provide three hours CFP® credits, CLE Legal credits (NE), CPE Accounting credits, Professional Recertification (formerly PACE) credits and Insurance credits for both NE & IA, pending approvals.

    The afternoon program will provide two hours CFP® CE Ethics credits, pending approvals.
