PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Managing Student Loan Debt

This presentation will provide knowledge and tools for ways to manage and repay student loan debt, and to empower attendees to share these tools with their clients.  You will leave with knowledge of how federal student loans work and how to manage repayment, ways for students and recent graduates to prepare themselves for financial wellness, and opportunities for loan forgiveness.

Creative Retirement Solutions for Small Businesses

This one-hour CE program is designed to equip CFP professionals with advanced strategies for addressing the unique retirement planning needs of small business owners. The session will explore traditional and creative retirement plan options, including SEPs, SIMPLE IRAs, Solo 401(k)s, and defined benefit plans, while delving into innovative equity-based compensation solutions such as stock options, phantom stock plans, and Stock Appreciation Rights (SARs). Participants will also gain insights into tax-efficient strategies and learn to customize retirement plans to align with small business growth objectives. Discussion of practical examples will enhance learning and provide actionable tools for advising small business clients.

    Positioning for Today's Market

James Casler from Lord Abbett will present Positioning for Today's Market. In this insightful session, James will share Lord Abbett's 2025 market outlook, providing a comprehensive macroeconomic perspective on the economy. He will also explore investment solutions tailored to the opportunities and challenges anticipated in the year ahead.

The US Economy - Returning to a New Normal

Inflation has decreased sharply but remains above its target. Unemployment has stayed low despite elevated interest rates. The Federal Reserve has cut their policy rate from its highest rate in more than a decade, but it remains higher than expected. What is the role of large federal deficits? Are high policy interest rates and above-target inflation the new normal? What do these trends mean for bonds and mortgages? This presentation will provide an economic update and discuss tools to better understand the current state of economy.

Understanding the Impact of Client Psychology on Financial Decision-Making

Humans tend to make emotional decisions rather than rational ones. This can lead to decision making errors and create behavior gaps, making it harder to reach a goal or desired outcome. This session, which qualifies participants for 1 hour of CFP® CE, will deliver a better understanding of how people make decisions. The theory and practice of the decision-making equation can help financial professionals better recognize decision making errors and influence client decisions and behaviors, to improve financial planning outcomes. This is incredibly powerful and beneficial, because even the best financial plan is only as good as the client's willingness to implement it.
