This heightened popularity is attracting the scrutiny of the IRS, SEC, and other regulatory bodies. In this course, advisors will gain an understanding of common virtual currency terminology and transactions as well as explore top issues facing their clients and the industry. Covered topics include defining cryptocurrency and key terms, virtual currency taxation issues and information on any updated guidance.

Susan Smith, CPA, manages her own firm specializing in tax planning for individuals and business owners. She is a frequent speaker at tax conferences and has received numerous outstanding discussion leader awards. Smith's previous experience includes senior tax manager roles at Price Waterhouse and Peat Marwick (the predecessor of KPMG), and associate adjunct professor at Widener University in the master’s taxation program.
